This body fat calculator supports four validated methods in one tool — the US Navy circumference method, the Jackson-Pollock 3-site skinfold protocol, the YMCA waist-only method, and a BMI-based estimate. Military body fat standards by branch
All four US military branches use the circumference tape test and the same Hodgdon-Beckett formula to calculate body fat percentage. The difference between them is the maximum allowable body fat percentage by age group. USMC has the strictest standards; Army and Air Force are the most lenient.

Why is BMI-based body fat less accurate than circumference methods?
